How can I reach Kythera by car, bus or ferry?
To reach Kythera by car, drive to the ports of Neapoli or Gythio in the Peloponnese. • From Neapoli: daily ferries run to Kythera. • From Gythio: one ferry operates 2-5 routes weekly. • From Piraeus: ferries to Kythera depart 2-3 times weekly • From Crete (Kissamos): connections run three times a week.
Are there flights to Kythera?
Yes. There are daily flights from Athens to Kythera (approx. 50 minutes). • Olympic Air / Aegean operate the Athens–Kythera route. • Sky Express also operates the same route

Is it necessary to rent a car on Kythera?
There is no public bus service on the island, and many beaches, villages and hiking trails are spread out. Renting a car, scooter or ATV is strongly recommended, as it is the easiest and most reliable way to explore Kythera comfortably and at your own pace.
